Start-Up 2022

Artwork on this episode of the Starlifter.FM podcast titled "Start-Up 2022". It features album covers from some of the songs played during this electrnoic DJ set and has a dark theme with bright lines in the background.

2022 has been a huge year so far which makes it tricky to get around to creating a banging electronic DJ set. Me and my whānau moved from Ōtautahi | Christchurch, Aotearoa to Brunswick West, Naarm | Melbourne; and obviously world events have been mad crazy. So in between moving countries, dodging covid, unpacking boxes, finding new schools, settling in 2 young kids into a new city and culture I’ve still found time to work on a electronic DJ set.

So here it is! This set has a real sense of rhythm and groove. The start relies on sophistication and attitude with beats and pieces bridging the middle. Harder beats come on after that with a real feel of that mid 2000’s electroclash vibe. Towards the end prog makes itself felt and the whole set is book-ended with some big 90s house. Listen in for the ear candy!

This set features:

  • Raf – Self Control
  • FPU – Ocean Drive (Tiga’s White Linen Vox)
  • Charlotte Adigéry & BOLIS PUPUL – Ceci n’est pas un cliché
  • Jain – Makeba
  • Riton – Rinse & Repeat featuring Kah-Lo
  • Tube & Berger – Bierchen
  • Bleu Clair, Osvaldorio – False God
  • Anti Up – Concentrate
  • WhoMadeWho – Out The Door (Superdiscount remix)
  • ZZT – The Worm (Erol Alkan Extended Rework)
  • Fedele – Riot Revolte (DJ Hell Remix)
  • Shedbug – Pickup Sticks
  • Roza Terenzi – Elevate

Love to Cuppo

This is one of my first mixes since the big move to Naarm and is dedicated to Cuppo; a cute little cafe out the front of Brunswick West Workshop, a studio and co-working space.

This set features songs mostly of a psychedelic groove and includes the likes of Tame Impala, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Flyying Colours, Mod Con, Mermaidens, Jefferson Airplane, Bird Nest Roys, The Sundae Painters, Jeffrey Lewis & The Rain, The Seeds, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Jimi Hendrix, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, and David Bowie.

Dr Hitchcock’s 40th Birthday Party

Life begins at 40 so I celebrated my birthday in style at Smash Palace. Friends and whānau, new and old, braved the Ōtautahi cold for some funky beats, 80s steez and modern classics. Markj aka Mr Soundfood snuck in from Melbourne, Australia while the travel bubble was open and treated us to a truly Dr Hitchcock style set, Tom Cosm smashed the floor with some funky house and disco, Pinacolada Soundsystem brought the true 80s vibe to the night and I played what I usually do 😜; perks of being the birthday boy I guess.
