Long time no bloggie yo!

Well we’re not sure if we’re a hit yet but Starlifter is now listed on the iTunes Radio Directory under ‘Eclectic’. Not my favourite way of describing what we play but it was the closest we could get 馃檪

In other news, over the past 4 months we’ve had 3 new shows join the Starlifter Radio roster:

  • Hottest Whatever with Fran, David and Lu
  • Islands with Mishka
  • Blue and Green with Shaun Parker

Welcome to Starship Awesome everyone!

If you’re interested in getting involved flick me a message: benet (at)

Peace, love and awesomeness!

Custard Bear – F#@$ You Courtney!

Custard Bear

Just added to the Starlifter Radio playlist is ‘F#@$ You Courtney!’ from ‘Custard Bear’,聽winner of the Chartfest 2010 Team Band Search. Well done lads! Here’s the hype:

“Custard Bear, a three piece from Christchurch Boys’ high school, has got it where it counts. They recently won the regional finals of Rockquest in Christchurch, and also took out the Team Band Search at Chartfest 2010, which they all agree was “pretty awesome, aye”. During breaks in between competitions they have been entertaining local ears with their savvy brand of crustic-pop, and have garnered a small hoard of fans, whom they treasure greatly. Some new sounds have been emerging from the band, which through sporadic attempts to capture on tape is set to culminate in an EP to be available later this year.”

Ed Muzik – Pump Up The Volume

Local electro pop-tart Ed Muzik and his band the Burning Sensations are back with more airhorns and cowbells on their latest song ‘Pump Up The Volume’. Crank this on your next d-floor! We’ve just added it to the Starlifter playlist and you can download it for yourself from: here

Here’s the hype:

The biggest thing since the Clyde Dam – it’s Pump Up The Volume. Air聽horns, 铿俹ors toms, 20 vocal tracks, jittery synths and cock-a-hoop lyrics. It始s聽everything you始ve come to expect from Ed Muzik, plus more. It始s Ed Muzik on聽crack. More crack. More, good crack. It’s Ed Muzik times in铿乶ity. Squared.
Pump Up The Volume harks back to the rave era, to the late 80始s and early聽90始s, to acid and warehouses, but without the homoerotic mimicry that聽characterises so much of the retro smiley-face crowd. Instead of simply聽glamourising the party and the excesses of wasted youth, Pump Up The聽Volume traces the arc of a house party, the rise and fall. Cos what goes up,聽must come down.
Ed Muzik and the Burning Sensations recently debuted Pump Up The聽Volume when they toured in support of Minuit. Test audiences responded
well to it, and it was decided that a video should be commissioned for the聽song.
This is the anthem for a generation (albeit, a very small subset of that聽generation.)聽Be sure to check out for for information and other bullshit
